Our Sales Policy
UPDATE 6-1-20! Due to the emergence of RHDV2, and new cases in New England, we are only placing bunnies in fully indoor setups currently. Bunnies may be able to have supervised playtime outside if you have a completely fenced off dedicated bunny garden that wildlife and wild rabbits can't get into, but other than that we aren't recommending that bunnies be outdoors on grass currently. RHDV2 is a deadly virus that is spreading among wild rabbits, and killing domestic bunnies that go outdoors in infected areas. There is no cure for the virus and it is very dangerous for domestic bunnies. This is very important and thank you for understanding!
Pricing ranges from $150 - $300, depending on color, type, personality and vienna markings. Pedigrees are an additional $25, and only go to approved homes. We have had to change our policy on this as we have had breeders create fake accounts to try and purchase one of our babies. Although all of our bunnies are pedigreed, it's not about that. We put a lot of time, energy and expense into our bunnies, and their setup, and care and the adoption fee reflects that. We do things very differently than most other programs, and wouldn't choose to do it at all if we had to do it any other way.
All of our bunnies will only be ready for adoption in good health, but we cannot guarantee the health of our bunnies once they leave our home. We also cannot guarantee the long term temperament of a bunny as that can change for each individual as he/she matures. Please understand that an animal in a completely new environment can be stressed and overwhelmed so please give him/her time to adjust before making too many changes in living environment, food, etc. Patience is really important. Although we don't expect any issues with any of our babies, we are here to support and guide you with any possible issues that may arise.
We put a lot of love and care into our Holland Lop bunnies, and only want the best possible homes for them. We will NOT sell our bunnies as meat rabbits. We will also not sell bunnies as "surprise" gifts as we really feel that it is so important the new owner (even if it is a child) to be involved from the beginning in the adoption process. Careful time and consideration by the whole family is so important.
If you change your mind after you are on the reservations list, the deposit is non-refundable. There are very special exceptions. We reserve the right to cancel a sale at any time, or keep a bunny for any reason, and if this happens you will have your deposit returned to you immediately.
Please understand that Blue Moon Lops does not approve every home. Bunnies will go to their new home with a special bunny package! It will include detailed care instructions, printed custom pedigree (if applicable), their own blanket (to help with transition), and first right of refusal agreement (we will each get a signed copy). We will also send along some of their hay and a big bag of their current food (unless you will be using the same kind that we do) for an easy transition. Prior to pickup, we will email detailed information and photos/links to the type of food they are eating, the hay, water bottle we use, litter box w/grate, and type of litter so that you can prepare ahead for his/her arrival. Babies are used to having access to BOTH a water bottle and a water bowl. All this information and much more will be included in your printed home care instructions.

Welcome to
Blue Moon Lops! We're so glad you're here.We are by appointment only. We do not allow visitors unless you are interested in adopting a specific bunny.
*Please read this policy in it's entirety before filling
out an adoption application. With the submitted application you agree to our terms of sale. Personalities differ in bunnies as they do with all animals and humans. Some babies can be more active, some are really laid-back, and most lie somewhere in between. Based on what we learn about your family, we can assist you in choosing the best possible fit all the way around. If you have any specific needs, we are happy to work with your goals.
The adoption process is as follows: After reading our sales policy, you will need to fill out an adoption application. Please note that there are two different forms for pet homes vs. breeder homes. Next, we will review your application and determine initial fit. If we feel that your family could be a fit based on your application and setup photos, you will be approved as a home for one of our bunnies.
For Breeders Only: We approve and align ourselves with very few breeding programs, as a lot follow very different ideals than we do. If you are a breeder applying, we will want to look at your social media as we would never approve someone who bullies or speaks badly of other programs, uses foul language, or has a questionable setup and unethical breeding methods. It is a huge indication of character and ethics and we not only don't support those types of programs, but we especially do not want our bunnies living in those places. Please do not waste our time, and yours, if you are one of those breeders. After you are approved for adoption, you will be added to the waitlist. Getting on the waiting list is free. By the time babies are 4-5 weeks old, we will have determined who is available. It will be at this point we are pretty certain about gender. Although we are usually pretty good at determining gender, it's not always correct so there is never a guarantee on sexes. When babies are 4-5 weeks old, we will then open reservations to the approved families. Once a family has picked their baby, a 50% non-refundable deposit via PayPal will be required immediately to reserve. We will not be able to reserve a baby without a deposit, and please do not ask to switch to a different bunny once reserved. The balance will be due via PayPal before pickup. We will be sending photos and video updates of your new baby, and will stay in touch as he/she grows! We also expect families on the waiting list to stay in touch with us to remain on the list. Once you are moved from the waitlist to the reservation list, we will be in close contact with updates and will be sending over lots of information so that you have everything you need to set up before bringing your new bunny home! If there are not enough babies for all the families on the waiting list, they will automatically be moved to the next litter's waiting list. We will probably have a litter or two every few months or so, more babies will be around the corner for families who are able to wait a little bit longer. We are also always happy to refer you to the small list of other programs that we trust that follow similar ideals if you don't want to wait. We always try our best to make all the families on our reservations list happy! At the time of pick up of a bunny, we will ask every family to sign a first right of refusal that states that if you can no longer care for it and need to find it a new home for any reason, you will need to offer it back to Blue Moon Lops first. Please understand that sometimes we may not be able to take the bunny back in due to not having enough space or for other reasons but we need to know where our bunnies are going. For all pet homes, we will also ask you to sign a spay/neuter agreement. Pedigrees are not transferrable without our approval as we do not want our bunnies to possibly end up in the hands of a breeder with less than desirable living conditions.
We pride ourselves in being available to provide support and guidance to all of our adoptive families long after our bunnies leave for their new homes. We love to answer questions and stay in touch with our families! It's so nice to see photos of the babies as they grow up! :-)

Transport process @ Blue Moon Lops
All families have the option of flying out to the Boston airport and bringing a bunny back with them in cabin. It is their responsibility to research flight costs and availability. We meet in White River Junction VT which is about two hours from the Boston Airport. We do not charge a fee for meeting. To my knowledge, Alaska Airlines does not require a health certificate for a bun to ride back in cabin but if that were to change, we would of course be happy to provide one by our rabbit vet.
